From Samhain to Halloween

Tousand years ago there was a festival calles Samhain, it was th Celtic people that had the festival.

They celebrated the festival because it was for them the end of the summer and the children went to all the houses in the small village and asked for food. It's was a little like the trick or treat that we have now on Halloween.

The Celtic people also had bonfires on the top of the hills to take away the evil spirits. The celts (celtic people) tought thar ther was a curtain between the normal world and the dead. Betwen the summer and the winter de curtain was the thinnest so the celts thught that their dead friends and other thing would come backe and visit them very ofte in form as black cats.

Pope Boniface IV created All Hallows' Day, we have halloween from that. But All Hallwos's Day is on 1st November and Haloween is on 31 october.
